Ethan Lindenberger testifies during a Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, March 5, 2019, to examine vaccines, focusing on preventable disease outbreaks.
"My decision to get myself vaccinated was based on the health and safety of myself and other people".
Ethan announced his upcoming trip to Washington in a YouTube video on Saturday.
"To combat preventable-disease outbreaks, information is, in my mind, the forefront of this matter". These include: Dr. John Wiseman, the Secretary of Health for the Washington State Department of Health; Saad Omer, Professor of Epidemiology & Pediatrics at Emory University and John Boyle, President and CEO of the Immune Deficiency Foundation.
Lindenberger says such personalised accounts should be answered by equally personal stories about the deaths and other harm caused by infectious diseases that vaccines were created to eradicate.
"He's excited; he's very excited", said Lindenberger's father Joe, who took his son to the airport Monday. His father said Ethan planned to talk about being an advocate for teens and the importance of being educated about vaccinations.
Also, "we need federal leadership for a national vaccination campaign spearheaded by CDC in partnership with states that counter the anti-vaccine messages, similar to the successful Truth tobacco prevention campaign".
"With my mother, it wasn't she didn't have the information, she was manipulated into believing it", high school senior Ethan Lindenberger said in the hearing.

Lindenberger told NPR News about his mother's reaction to information from the CDC. When he approached her with his findings backed by both the US government and the scientific community, she responded, "That's what they want you to think". "I was just blown away that you know, the largest health organization in the entire world would be written off with a kind of conspiracy theory-like statement like that".
Lindenberger grew up without common vaccinations like those for measles and chicken pox before finally getting immunizations starting in December. He and his mother did about a dozen interviews with various media outlets, including FOX, The Washington Post, CNN, reporters from Berlin and Australia, "Good Morning America" and coverage was in USA Today.
Lindenberger became famous after he reached out to a Reddit community to ask if he can still be vaccinated as an adult.
"Given the choice, I do believe that the benefits of most vaccines vastly outweigh the risks, yet it is wrong to say that there are no risks to vaccines", Paul said.
Lindenberger and Wheeler have four children - Isaac, 22, Ethan, 18, Noah, 16, and Emma, 14. Rand Paul (R-KY) over whether the government should mandate vaccines for children.
According to the doctors in Canada, they have seen a significant rise in the number of Canadian teens and young adults who go out to get the MRR vaccine since an outbreak has started.
The hearing also covered herd immunity, a tenet of immunology that states the rate of a preventable illness in a population will go down if the rate of vaccination goes up.
The study provided evidence strongly supporting that the MMR vaccination does not increase the risk for autism, does not trigger autism in susceptible children and is not associated with clustering of autism cases after vaccination.
