Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Senator Ed Markey on Thursday laid out the goals of a Green New Deal to transform the United States economy to combat climate change while creating thousands of jobs in renewable energy.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tapped eight Democrats to serve on a special committee to address climate change.
Her website "promotes off-shore drilling under Energy issues-the very thing she wants to eliminate with her "Green New Deal" that dropped today", tweeted the RSC.
At the same time, Pelosi's attitude toward the Green New Deal also risks putting her out of step with the direction her party is taking on a national level.
Though spearheaded by Ocasio-Cortez, the plan has already been endorsed by at least 60 Democrats in the House and by nine senators, the Washington Post reported, citing congressional Democrat aides. She couldn't even remember the name. "The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they're for it right?".
Several Democratic presidential hopefuls have embraced the idea of a Green New Deal without saying exactly what it means.

Uhuru's Message of Goodwill to Chinese in Lunar New Year
Another part of the festivities is "hongbao" or red envelopes containing money, which are given to family and friends. The reason it falls on this date is because it coincides with the lunar new year - the start of a new moon.
Pelosi said, "I welcome the new deal and any other proposals". Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico, Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon, Julia Brownley of California, Sean Casten of Illinois, Jared Huffman of California, Mike Levin of California, Donald McEachin of Virginia and Joe Neguse of Colorado. Ed Markey (D-Mass), unveiled a plan to revamp the USA economy and eliminate carbon emissions on Thursday, suggesting in an NPR interview that deficit spending might be the best way to pay for it. Ocasio-Cortez was not among those named to the panel, which is chaired by Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Fla.
Ocasio-Cortez, 29, who represents parts of Queens and The Bronx, is calling for the federal government to launch a World War II-like mobilization on a "Green New Deal" environmental plan that would reduce carbon emissions, remake the economy and reduce income equality.
After Democrats won the House majority in November, Ocasio-Cortez emerged as an outspoken advocate for combating climate change and pushed for the select committee to be focused on formulating a Green New Deal that would move the country toward 100 percent renewable electricity over the next 10 years.
In any event, by putting forth an ambitious plan, AOC, as she's known, and Markey are forcing a serious discussion - and that's overdue. There are specific flaws, too, including the neglect of nuclear power as a potentially important bridge between fossil fuels and the ideal of all-renewable energy.
Even so, their Green New Deal goes far beyond the Clean Power Plan proposed by President Barack Obama.
The Democrats are likely to meet resistance to their proposal in Congress, especially in the Republican-controlled Senate.
