A suspected drunk driver accused of fatally shooting the California police officer who pulled him over was captured Friday as he tried to flee back to Mexico, where he lived before illegally crossing into the US, authorities said.
Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said two men and a woman were arrested at the same home where Arriaga was found for aiding and abetting the suspect. Singh was a native of Fiji and joined the Newman Police Department in July 2011.
The sheriff says Perez Arriaga was in the country illegally after crossing the border in Arizona.
"The sheriff's office will spare no expense in hunting down this criminal", Christianson said.
The sheriff suggested that sanctuary laws prohibited his department from sharing Arriaga's gang ties, "other active warrants" and past DUI arrests with federal immigration authorities.
"They misled us. They provided information which was all false in an attempt to protect Mr Arriaga, who we also know was trying to flee to Mexico", Sheriff Christianson said.
Singh's brother, Reggie, thanked police officers through sobs at a press conference.
Former NYPD officer Dan Bongino blasted USA immigration policies after a police officer in California was fatally shot by an alleged illegal immigrant fugitive.
Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson fought back tears as he described Singh, a 33-year-old with a newborn son, as an "American patriot".

The fatal incident happens in the midst of a partial federal government shutdown that U.S. President Donald Trump has initiated because he wants Congress to allocate $5 billion towards building a wall at the U.S. border with Mexico.
Trump tweeted about Singh's killing Thursday, saying it's "time to get tough on Border Security".
The arrest of an accused cop killer signifies a return to public order, declares that such an egregious offense is not to be tolerated in a free and civil society, and allows citizens to breathe a sigh of relief.
"The type of tone and attitude that Sheriff Christianson has taken instills fear and panic in all immigrant communities" that could make people afraid to report crimes, de Leon said.
"This is a criminal illegal alien with prior criminal activity that should have been reported to ICE", Christianson added. "We need closure, his family needs closure". The arrest of Mr Arriaga does bring some closure to the Singh family.
On Saturday, law enforcement officers from throughout California and across the nation are expected to attend Singh's funeral at 10 a.m. PST at the CrossPoint Community Church in Modesto.
Richardson said his department of 12 is grieving Singh, and other agencies are lending a hand. "He believed in this community", the chief said at a community vigil Friday night honoring the officer. He said both men were also in the country illegally.
