The company announced the two new fix options today, acknowledging a problem in which the iPhone X's display reacts when it hasn't been touched or fails to respond to touch, and in which a MacBook Pro SSD may fail. The announcement on Friday comes after the iPhone X was discontinued in September following the launch of the iPhone XS and XR. As with any repairs where your device will be undergoing major surgery, Apple suggests that you perform an iTunes or iCloud backup before bringing your iPhone X in for service.
The issues manifest with some iPhone X displays from 2017 that may become unresponsive to touch mostly due to a component failure.
Users on online forums had complained that their phone was making "random clicks" when they weren't interacting with it, or that it unexpectedly stopped responding. Canadian devices are on the list of affected countries, according to Apple. In some cases, the screen would respond even without it being touched.
If you are one of those users experiencing "ghost touches" or the panel not responding to touches on your iPhone X, then you are eligible for a free replacement.
