The Saudis are preparing a report that will acknowledge that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's death was the result of an interrogation that went wrong, one that was meant to lead to his abduction from Turkey, according to two sources.

Saudi Arabia had earlier denied killing Khashoggi and denounced such assertions as "lies", saying he left the building shortly after entering.
Saudi officials arrive at the the consulate in Istanbul where Mr Khashoggi was last seen.
But he left Saudi Arabia roughly a year ago over fears for his safety after writing articles critical of the government, particularly Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Turkey said Erdogan "stressed the forming of a joint working group to probe the case".
Following Khashoggi's disappearance, a slew of businesses leaders and media companies announced they were pulling out of the Future Investment Initiative economic conference set for next week in Riyadh. In an interview to air on 60 Minutes this weekend, the president promised "severe punishment" if the United States determines that Saudi Arabia killed Khashoggi.
They include the CEO of Uber, a company in which Saudi Arabia has invested billions of dollars; billionaire Richard Branson; JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Investigators entered the building in Istanbul on Monday afternoon - first a Saudi team followed roughly an hour later by Turkish forensic police.
