Speaking without notes at Thursday's Kensington Palace launch event, the Duchess of Sussex gushed over the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, a group of displaced Londoners who came together to cook for their families and neighbors in the wake of last year's Grenfell Tower fire.
When Meghan Markle's mom Doria Ragland was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport this week, she was crossing the pond to London for the sweetest reason - to support her daughter's first solo charity project in person. The Duchess looked resplendent in a royal blue coat by Canadian brand Smythe, a black sleeveless top and pleated skirt by Misha Nonoo and black suede pumps from Sarah Flint for the occasion.
She said: 'Working on this project for the past nine months has been a tremendous labour of love.
"On a personal level, I feel so proud to live in this city that can have so much diversity".
Meghan helped put the group in touch with a publisher and her Royal Foundation provided assistance with legal and administrative issues.
Los Angeles based Doria, 62, hugged each woman and said: "It's unbelievable".

Supreme Court Nominee to Speak on Sexual Assault Accusation

Jimmy Butler requests trade from Timberwolves
Butler repeatedly has said he wants to be in the best place to win a championship, and Minnesota isn't the best option for that. The Have has been, and still is, hesitant to trade for players without an assurance they would re-sign in free agency.
The trio, who at one point stood with their arms around one another in a line, made their way around four food stations, with the Duchess getting stuck in to help cook while her mother and husband watched on proudly. "I could not be more excited about it and proud of you".
She greeted guests at the launch, by saying: 'Hi, I'm Meg's mom'.
