A jail employee said Guyger was released on bond.
Guyger, who was in uniform, had ended her shift Thursday night and returned to what she believed was her apartment-which turned out to actually be Jean's home.
In May 2017, Guyger and another officer responded to the 8300 block of Reva Street in Pleasant Grove after undercover officers reported a woman they believed to be wanted by DPD sitting in the front passenger seat of vehicle. Guyger believed Jean was an intruder and shot him, police said.
Some protesters carried signs with the names of other black men who have also been killed by police.
The Dallas police chief announced at a press conference Friday afternoon that authorities are in the process of obtaining a warrant to arrest the officer involved, who has not yet been identified.
Jean described himself on LinkedIn as a "young professional, engaged in developing a career built upon integrity, dedication and relationships, leveraging useful technologies to gain an understanding of and add value in a range (of) industries, striving towards leadership in my career, my community and society".
The Department of Public Safety, which oversees the Texas Rangers, didn't immediately reply to a Saturday phone message seeking comment.
WFAA reported, "Contrary to rumors swirling on social media, Jean did not know Guyger, a source with knowledge of the investigation told WFAA". It is not clear what prompted the shooting but Guyger reportedly called police following the incident. In 2017, she shot Uvaldo Perez, 47. Perez got out of a auto and became combative with Guyger and another officer.
Guyger was not injured in the incident and was placed on administrative leave while an investigation was launched.
