Donald Trump has hit back at his former aide, Omarosa Manigault Newman, after she released tapes of secretly recorded White House conversations, including one in which the president appeared to express surprise that she had been fired from his administration.
She also maintained that she has heard a three-minute audio recording on which Trump uses the n-word multiple times as host of "The Apprentice".
"She wore that jacket to hurt Trump, setting off a controversy that he would have to fix, prolonging the conversation about the administration's insensitivity, ruining the trip itself, and trying to make sure that no one asked her to do something like that again."
On Monday, Manigault Newman released an apparent recording of an interaction with Trump in 2017 after she was dismissed from the White House. "She was vicious, but not smart", the President raged in a pair of tweets.
But he added: "This is a modern day form of communication and I know the Fake News Media will be working overtime to make even Wacky Omarosa look legitimate as possible".
'Omarosa? Omarosa what is going on?
She said she was locked in a room before Kelly told her she was sacked, and characterized the meeting as "false imprisonment".
"I had a blind side when it came to Donald Trump", she admitted.
"No... I. I - Nobody even told me about it", Trump is heard saying. "I didn't know it. Goddamn. I don't love you leaving at all".
"There is a complete organization between the two of them", Manigault Newman said of Trump and Kelly.

Omarosa, usually referred to by only her first name, left the White House in December, and Sunday's interview coincided with the release of her book, "Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House", detailing her time there.
On the recording, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly can be heard talking to Omarosa in the Situation Room.
The tweeter-in-chief took to his favorite social media platform to attack Manigault-Newman, calling her a "wacky" wanna-be who was hated heavily and couldn't keep a job.
"The very idea a staff member would sneak a recording device into the White House Situation Room shows a blatant disregard for our national security", Sanders said in a statement.
She defended making recordings of her calls and meetings with Trump, Kelly and others, saying that if she hadn't, the White House would have claimed that the conversations never occurred.
"I think it's sad that with all of the things that's going on in the country that he would take time out to insult me and to insult my intelligence", she told MSNBC anchors Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle.
"He absolutely has an issue with the truth, and sometimes he battles with reality", she said of Trump. He then went on to summarize the relationship. "I would rarely see her but heard really bad things", he wrote on Twitter. "Because I've talked to him subsequently, and he said he delegated". The book paints a damning picture of Trump, including her claim that he used racial slurs on the set of his reality show "The Apprentice".
Ethics lawyer Norm Eisen, who served under former President Barack Obama, suggested to the paper such agreements might be a civil rights violation.
She resisted follow-up questions about her claims and tried to abruptly end the interview.
'Most of the things about her never came to him.
"I've known Omarosa for years and we are not friends anymore", she said. You know they run a big operation, but I did not know it...
