Weinstein was charged after a seven-month investigation in NY and more than 20 years of alleged misconduct.
Weinstein turned himself in to authorities Friday morning and was arrested and processed on charges of rape, committing a criminal sex act, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct, according to the New York Police Department.
Actress Ashley Judd last month sued Weinstein, saying he cost her a part in 1998 in the film "The Lord of the Rings" after she rejected his sexual advances, charges that Weinstein has denied.
The official says the rape charge relates to a woman who has not spoken publicly or been identified. "I loved my life", she said.
Attorney Carrie Goldberg represents former actress Lucia Evans, who says Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex in his office in 2004. However, Wallace said she pumped him for information about the investigation and insisted on sitting close to him, leading him to believe she was recording him.
According to the Times' Ben Mueller, one of the two women cited in the charges is actress Lucia Evans, who told her story to journalist Ronan Farrow in The New Yorker a year ago. For a long time, no one believed her, she said.
"His face has terrorized me for so long", she said.

Gayle Goldin, a state legislator in Rhode island who's been campaigning against sexual misconduct, said multiple factors - aside from the Trump Effect - distinguished the Weinstein case from previous cases involving high-profile men.
