In doing so, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has set a precedent for how Cambridge Analytica and other firms would have to deal with illegally collected information, potentially allowing millions of other U.S. Facebook users to demand information on exactly what data companies have on them.
Results of the national online poll, which took place between April 26 and April 30, show that around half of US Facebook users had not recently changed the amount they used the site, while a quarter were using it more. That breaks down as: 18 percent ("I use it less"), 4 percent ("I stopped using it, but I still have an account") and 1 percent ("I've deleted my account").
Cambridge Analytica might have come to the end, filing for bankruptcy and shutting itself down, but that hasn't marked the end of the company's troubles.
The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office has ordered Cambridge Analytica to release all the personal information and data it has on an American voter, opening the way for as many as 240 million us voters to request their data back from the political consulting firm that had ties to the Trump campaign, The Guardian reports. "Nobody's outraged on a visceral level", Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities told Reuters.
Cambridge Analytica advised US President Donald Trump's election campaign, building psychographic profiles of the electorate to help micro-target voters with advertising in key swing states.

The vast majority of Facebook's US users have stayed loyal to the social network following recent revelations of personal data-harvesting by political consultancy Cambridge Analytica, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Among the biggest announcements made in the conference was Facebook's plans to build a "Clear History" privacy tool which will enable users to see the websites and apps that send information to Facebook when they use them.
Despite their understanding of Facebook's privacy settings, only 23 per cent of its users said they have "total control" over the information they store on the platform.
Facebook's own financial report published earlier this month suggested that North American users grew by 2-million in Q1 2018 over the previous quarter. And 55 per cent of Twitter users knew their privacy settings, and 58 per cent knew how to use them. Up to 310,000 Germans were affected by the scandal as well.
