On Saturday, Environment Canada issued freezing rain warnings for southern Ontario, where power outages are expected. Significant ice accumulation is expected.
The weather agency is warning that periods of rain starting Friday could change into freezing rain by Saturday morning as cooler temperatures set in.
As this weather system is still a few days away, there remains uncertainty with regards to precipitation amounts and which areas will be most affected.

Toronto is expected to only receive 15 millimetres of freezing rain, while Kimbell said areas like Hamilton could receive between 20 and 30 millimetres by Sunday. Sunday morning another round of ice pellets will move into the region quickly changing over to freezing rain later in the morning.
