A family of four from Iowa, who suffocated from toxic gas inhalation, has been found dead in their vacation condo located in the Tulum, Mexico area.
Kevin Wayne Sharp, 41, wife Amy Marie Sharp, 38, and Sterling Wayne Sharp, 12, and Adrianna Marie Sharp, 7, were found dead inside the condo Friday after relatives had reported them missing.
The Sharps left the United States for Cancun on March 14, then rented a auto and drove to Akamal, according to Amy Sharp's sister, Renee Hoyt, who spoke with the News Advertiser in Creston, Iowa, where the family lived.
"Our main concern right now is getting our family back".
The Quintana Roo state prosecutor's office reported on Twitter on Friday (in Spanish) that the typo of lethal gas they inhaled is still being investigated, but that it ruled out any violent foul play or suicide.
An online memorial fund has been set up for the family. At the time, they did not release the source of the gas.
Hoyt said she and her loved ones are planning one funeral, which will be held at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, where the Sharp family lived.
According to the Des Moines Register Jana Weland, a cousin to Amy Sharp, says the U.S. Consulate in Mexico informed the family that a gas leak from a water heater or gas stove was what killed the Sharp family. Prosecutors from the Quintana Roo state said that the pathologists determined that the family had probably been dead for 36 to 48 hours before they were discovered on Friday.

The findings offer some answers to the sudden disappearance and deaths of the family of four from Creston, Iowa, about 70 miles southwest of Des Moines.
But authorities and family members stressed that they were not murdered.
"Life is not going to be the same without her", Beth Fry, Amy's mother, said in an interview with the Associated Press. "Half my family is gone".
