The technology giant confirmed that from February 20, devices running either version of the software will no longer receive notifications or live tile updates.
Microsoft announced in October that Windows 10 Mobile would no longer receive new feature updates.
Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0 haven't been supported in some time, so it should come as no surprise that Microsoft is shutting down push notifications for the platforms. So although the branding and appearance of Windows Phone may go away (Windows Phone OS itself is definitely dead), Microsoft still plans on trying their luck with the smartphone market.

The windows phones are fading from the market and have been out of the picture since Microsoft chose to stop supporting the platform which is demand and focus on other ventures.Although it doesn't make any difference ending the push notification feature. The company says that since both of those platforms have reached the end of their support, these services are now able to be discontinued.
Microsoft is making things worse for the users with Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0 handsets. Just like ending support for versions of their PC operating systems (ie, Windows XP, Vista, etc), everything eventually reaches a point where it is pointless to support it any further.
Microsoft in the blog post assured that users of Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile won't be affected by any of this and push notifications for those platforms will continue to work. The news comes from Microsoft's Answers forum (via Windows Central).
