This island has been hugely destroyed by category 5 tropical cyclone Gita with winds of 230km/h destroying parts of the 100-year-old parliament house and causing significant damage and injuries across the entire area.

A hurricane warning remains in force for Ono-i-Lau and Vatoa.
Thousands of people are still unable to return home and the government has confirmed three people were seriously injured by the cyclone.
