On Saturday, as the two Civilians were killed by forces firing in South Kashmir's Shopian district, authorities snapped the high-speed internet services fearing protests.
Suhail Lone and Javid Bhat, both in their 20s, were killed when security forces opened fire on protesters in Ganaupora village in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday afternoon. "Within no time, their [the crowd's] numbers swelled to 200-250 persons", the statement said while adding that the protestors tried to set four vehicles ablaze.
The statement said that seven Army men suffered injuries and extensive damage was caused to eleven vehicles. The personnel cited in the FIR belong to the 10 Garhwal unit of the Army and include an officer of the rank of Major.
The government has already ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
Khan said that Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Muhammad Aijaz has been appointed as the inquiry officer to ascertain the facts about the deaths.
