CAPE TOWN -Instant messaging app WhatsApp has launched a free app aimed at helping small businesses connect with their customers, called WhatsApp Business. Companies and small businesses will be able to use it to have more direct contact with their customers, which are sure to be found among WhatsApp's 1.3 billion users. Also, they have complete control over the messages they receive.
Such users will be specifically marked as a Business account, and WhatsApp will soon verify accounts over time.
A business account can also be setup using a landline phone number. They will also be able to send and receive messages through WhatsApp's web platform.
WhatsApp's promising to spread availability of its Business app to more countries in the coming weeks. WhatsApp will also have some Confirmed Accounts over time for a few businesses.
Facebook-owned chat app, WhatsApp announced on Thursday, January 19, that it will be introducing a new feature which would allow business accounts.
