The move has added to Turkish anger over US support for Kurdish-dominated forces in Syria. Erdogan's spokesman labelled the latest developments "worrying" and "unacceptable".
"The countries with imperialist ambitions in the region are explicitly supporting terror groups... against Turkey", the premier said.
"The US has admitted to building an army of terror along our national borders", Erdogan reportedly told workers of a new sodium factory in Ankara.
The YPG played a a key role in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) alliance that previous year ousted Islamic State jihadists from their stronghold of Raqa in northern Syria.

The US-led coalition provided significant military and logistical support to the SDF as it beat back Isis (Islamic State) militants across Syria.
