Good news as Kenya's national carrier, Kenya Airways (KQ), prepares to start direct daily flights from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in NY.
The service will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which will traverse almost 7,400 miles of land and sea.
The flight will connect Nairobi, Kenya's capital city and one of Africa's busiest and business-heavy cities, to one of the world's premier business hubs, New York City, which has not been possible until recently. The return flight will leave NY at 12:25 p.m. and arrive in Nairobi the next day at 10:55 a.m.
Kenya's tourist marketers said Friday they expect the number of tourists visiting Kenya from the United States to grow as Kenya Airways prepares to launch direct flights to NY in October.
Direct flights from JKIA to New York JFK will reduce the time flight from 25 hours to about 15 hours. Its duration will be 15 hours eastbound and 14 hours westbound.

Devan Jobanputra, director of Travel 'n Style in Kenya, says the direct flight will undoubtedly increase awareness and is likely to boost premium travel to the country.
He added that the airline had confidence in the route, saying "we would not embark on this if we were not confident that it will work". United States is now Kenya's top tourism source market, commanding a market share of 12.2 percent of total arrivals to Kenya as at October 2017.
Kenya Airways already serves Africa, Europe, Middle-East, Indian sub-continent and Asia.
