Stephen Bannon on Monday called out GOP leaders who have failed to support Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, telling a crowd at a rally ahead of the special election that there is a "special place in hell for Republicans who should know better".
"You know, I was even raising this, not even so much as a political issue nearly as a moral issue", the New York Republican told CNN's "New Day".
Far from "dumping Steve Bannon", as NY establishment Republican Rep. Peter King suggested, conservatives should recruit more leaders like him.
The Republican House Representative from Long Island who did not hold back, putting his critique of Bannon in a broader context, saying "It's not a political issue but a moral issue", adding "this guy does not belong on the national stage".
"Trump's instincts on the Alabama race proved to be correct", Graham said.
King said Bannon, now the executive chairman of Breitbart News, doesn't represent anything he stands for.
One woman claims she was 14 years old at the time Moore touched her sexually. "He looks like some drunk that wandered on to the national stage".
"He sort of parades himself out there with his weird, alt-right views he has, and to me it's demeaning to the whole governmental and political process", King said. "And I think, last night, in Alabama - it wasn't just a political statement, it was a revulsion by people at his style, at his type of divisive views".
"The Alabama result shows that Mr. Bannon cares less about conservative policy victories than he does personal king-making", the editors wrote.
"After doing everything in their power to throw this election to a liberal Democrat, the McConnell establishment should expect the very same America First movement that elected the president in 2016 to be out for their blood in 2018", Surabian said.
