Speculations about Facebook's "Order Food" feature had been doing rounds for some time and some of the rumors also highlighted it to be a new option within the Explore menu in the application. Restaurants will be listed, as is the option to begin an order for pickup or delivery.
Facebook has battled an increasingly crowded field of competitive platforms in recent years, but its newest offering may give the social media giant a leg up on the competition: the ability to order food within the app.
Users can now order food for delivery without ever leaving Facebook, CNBC reports. It's also working with restaurant chains directly, like Jack in the Box, Five Guys, Papa John's, Wingstop, TGI Friday's, Denny's, El Pollo Loco, Chipotle, Jimmy John's and Panera. "You can even check out what your friends have to say about a restaurant before you order your food", notes the company's website.
