More than a fifth (22%) of the participants in its International Student Survey said they thought a gold rating would be the best way to judge quality at a United Kingdom institution, and 80% of those considering the United Kingdom said they would choose excellent teaching quality over a high-ranking university.

The University of Law is the UK's longest-established specialist provider of legal education and training in the United Kingdom, with centres in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, Guildford, Manchester and Leeds, as well as at The University of Exeter and The University of Reading.
But Coventry University, a newer institution which scored a gold, said the TEF showed that universities can not rely on their "historic reputation". Providers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can take part in the TEF, but their results will not be tied to fees.
A north-east university has been awarded a prestigious Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
The Teaching Excellence Framework is the first Government-led initiative evaluating the undergraduate experiences in universities.
Tef saw United Kingdom universities given rankings based on teaching quality metrics including student satisfaction, facilities and graduate employment rates.
Coventry University vice chancellor professor John Latham said the rankings show that a "new order has been established".

It was only a couple of weeks ago that a United Kingdom university had to remove the claim is was in the "top 1%" in the world.
Despite the "delight" of gold-rated universities like Derby and Edge Hill, the new scheme has caused controversy among many students and academics.
These results, highlighting the extraordinary strengths of our higher education system, will help students choose which university or college to study at.
