Security camera footage captured the scene in a Cincinnati elementary school bathroom on January 24.
They have refused to release the video to the public.
An 8-year-old OH boy was reportedly bullied and knocked unconscious at school two days before he committed suicide.
"While we plan to answer some troubling questions about this case in particular by seeking input from school officials and law enforcement, we also want to take a closer look at what's being done statewide to keep our students safe and our parents informed". Was there a connection between what happened in the bathroom and Gabriel's suicide? The 8-year-old then approached the aggressor and tried to shake his hand but was pulled to the floor, the detective wrote.
Cornelia Reynolds, Gabriel's mother, did not learn of the bullying until the attorneys received a copy of a police investigative file that contained an email from a homicide detective to school officials describing the video.
An assistant principal arrived about 4½ minutes after Gabriel fell to the floor, followed by other school employees and the school nurse, who helped him to his feet. Less than 48 hours later, the young Cincinnati boy would be found dead by suicide inside of his bedroom, hanging by a necktie. "The next day, Gabriel went back to school". "I think that's a very big component", Branch said.
The Hamilton County coroner said she is reopening the investigation into Gabriel's suicide.
Cincinnati Public Schools initially declined to release the video to the public or to comment about it.

After walking the first two batters, Tillman bounced back nicely in his first appearance since the 2016 AL wild-card game. In the first quarter, the Wizards' defense was predicated on optimism - hoping that Thomas and the Celtics would miss.
The school district had refused to release the video but chose to do so to counter what it said was the detective's suggestion that the children who poked or nudged or kicked Gabriel were assaulting him. But, they are "concerned about the length of time that [Gabriel] lay motionless and the lack of adult supervision at the scene". Henson says school officials sent a note home with students after his death, saying a child had died in an accident and counselors would be available for their children.
"Mom is called, and she's told that he fainted", Branch said After Gabriel reported stomach pain, his mother took him to a hospital for what was believed to be a stomach flu, she added.
"She's devastated that her son's second to last day was so painful for him and that she didn't know and that she couldn't protect him", said Branch.
On the evening after the school told Gabriel's mother he "fainted", the boy was nauseated and vomiting. According to reports, it was then that his mother took him to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
