Netflix's recent run of success at award shows continued on Sunday night at the MTV Movie and TV Awards.
Out of the seven gender-neutral categories with solo winners at MTV's gala Sunday night, women won three - best actor in a movie (Watson), best actor in a show (Millie Bobbie Brown) and best hero (Taraji P. Henson).
In total, the streaming platform scored eight nominations at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, including four for Stranger Things.
"MTV's move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone, but to me it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and that doesn't need to be separated into two different categories". To many, the elimination of gender from the award doesn't seem like a big deal, but to the many of millions of people who live outside of the gender binary, it's actually everything. "More seriously, I think I'm being given this award because of who Belle is and what she represented". The red carpet outside Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium became a swamp as luminaries made their water-logged arrival for the shindig.

Kings XI Punjab beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 14 runs
The pressure on the southpaw finally did the trick as he gave away easy catch to Shaun Marsh off the bowling of Rahul Tewatia. The KXIP have also scored a big run as 189 but, the opponent Suresh Raina and the team beat by 6 wickets by scoring 192 runs.
The show maintained its traditional irreverence with awards recognizing the best duo (Jackman and Dafne Keen of the film "Logan"), best villain (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, "The Walking Dead"), best tearjerker (hit TV drama "This Is Us"), and best kiss (Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerone of "Moonlight").
"Are you scared of me?"
"- Black dudes don't mess with you", said Howery, whose character in the film has good reason to be scared of hers. Instead of honoring a physical fight this year, MTV gave its best fight against the system award to the film "Hidden Figures", which highlights the black female mathematicians who worked at NASA when the USA space program was just beginning. But it certainly is one of the most progressive. "This is very meaningful to me".
For the first time, it gave its generation award to a movie franchise, honoring the "Fast and Furious" series instead of a lone actor. I loved playing someone who didn't listen to any of that.
