Auston Robertson has been dismissed from the Michigan State football team as he faces a charge of third degree criminal sexual assault.
Robertson was previously suspended from the program when Dantonio learned that he was the subject of a sexual assault investigation stemming from an alleged April 9 incident in Meridian Township.
Prosecutors didn't say much else about the charge, but a police detective testified in court today and discussed details of the case. A university spokesman told the Detroit Free Press that Robertson, a sophomore who played in seven games last season, remains a student.
When the latest allegation came to light, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said in a statement at the time: "We will continue to educate and enforce high standards for the program".
NFL Draft: Breaking down Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey
But with Stewart turning 30 last month, that probably won't keep the Panthers from selecting a running back in the draft. We couldn't have said it any better. "Free agency should set you up so you can take the best players available".

In February, three players and a staff member were suspended while police investigate a separate sexual assault incident. To answer the question on everyone's mind, he is not one of the three players involved in the other ongoing investigation and these charges are unconnected with that investigation, either. According to MI legislature, this particular charge is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison if the accused is found guilty.
Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio meets with reporters Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in East Lansing.
All four players have been suspended. "Online court records indicate Robertson's charge involves force or coercion". "While there is an ongoing criminal process, we're extremely disappointed that Auston put himself in this position".
In January 2016, Robertson faced a misdemeanor battery charge after an incident at his school and entered a diversionary program. On his 2016 signing day, Robertson did not fax in his national letter of intent to the MSU staff. The maximum prison sentence for third-degree criminal sexual conduct in MI is 15 years.
